The picture

Epic Games' own Twinmotion pricing notice, first published 12 March 2024 and carrying a later update banner, states that 'beginning May 27, 2026, Unreal Subscriptions no longer include Twinmotion and RealityScan'. Before that date, the same notice explains, a single combined Unreal Subscription seat, priced at $1,850 per seat per year, covered Unreal Engine, Twinmotion and RealityCapture - since renamed RealityScan - together. After 27 May 2026, each tool reverts to its own free-or-paid model, free for companies under $1 million USD in annual gross revenue and priced per seat above that line.

What the documents show

Twinmotion's own licensing page, retrieved 16 September 2026, prices a standalone Twinmotion seat at $445 per seat per year above the $1 million threshold. RealityScan's own licensing page, retrieved the same day, prices a standalone RealityScan seat at $1,250 per seat per year under the identical revenue test. Added together, the two standalone seats now cost $1,695 per year before any separate Unreal Engine seat is counted - close to, but not the same as, the former $1,850 combined figure, and that combined figure no longer buys either visualization tool on its own. A comparison built before 27 May 2026 that cites $1,850 as covering all three tools describes an offer the notice states has ended.

What it is allowed to decide

A subscription bundle's scope is a commercial fact, not a rendering-quality one: it decides which budget line a studio pays from, not whether a visualization is dimensionally or photometrically defensible. This supports class 3, commercial, at most. It holds Provenance to the extent Epic's own notice discloses exactly what changed and when. It does not hold Auditability: nothing in the notice addresses whether a scene file built under one licensing arrangement can be reopened identically once the bundling changes again.

The disclosure label

A disclosure travelling with a Twinmotion or RealityScan visualization made after the change would read: image produced under a standalone Twinmotion seat ($445/seat/year) or RealityScan seat ($1,250/seat/year), each independent of the Unreal Engine subscription since 27 May 2026, class 3 commercial at most; Provenance held for the stated licence terms, Auditability not established for the underlying scene file; dated 16 September 2026; asserted by the studio holding the seat.

  • Was this budget built before or after 27 May 2026, and does it still assume one combined seat price?
  • Does the project need RealityScan's photogrammetry, Twinmotion's real-time visualization, or Unreal Engine itself - and is each now licensed separately?
  • Does the client's company, not just the project, sit above or below the $1 million revenue line that triggers payment?

Editorial reading: unbundling a shared subscription into per-tool pricing is a pattern worth watching across this toolset, since it shifts the real comparison from a single sticker price to a sum of separately priced parts.
