Archviz studios describe their own work as marketing, not design

DBOX and Kilograph both describe their own visualisation work in marketing and approval terms, produced after a project's design is set.

The picture

Two studios that supply architectural visualisation state their own purpose in explicitly commercial language. DBOX's own About page, retrieved 16 September 2026, describes the studio as 'an international creative communications agency that develops innovative, strategic marketing campaigns' whose services 'achieve the unrivaled sales, leasing, planning and public awareness results that our clients deserve'. Kilograph's own company profile, also retrieved 16 September 2026, states the studio 'helps teams win approvals, secure funding, and bring projects to market through brand, signature imagery, film, and interactive'. Both statements describe work commissioned after a scheme's design has already been set, not work informing the design itself.

What the documents show

DBOX's service list names Computer Generated Imagery and Animation and Virtual Reality Applications alongside Positioning and Brand Identity and Branded Sales and Leasing Experiences, placing visualisation inside a bundle of persuasion services rather than a standalone technical output. Kilograph's LinkedIn listing classifies the studio under Advertising Services and names Visualization and 3D Rendering among specialties that also include Strategic Storytelling and Place Branding. Neither document states its imagery is checked against survey, lens or lighting data; both describe outcomes in approvals won, funding secured and sales achieved. This is what each studio states about itself, not a claim extended here to every visualisation studio.

What it is allowed to decide

Work matching these studios' own descriptions can plausibly support Class 3 Commercial decisions, and, in Kilograph's own phrase, Class 2 Creative approval and funding decisions, since both aim to persuade a buyer, lender or committee rather than coordinate construction. Neither source states this imagery holds Dimensional authority: no camera position, survey method or model source is disclosed. Because the imagery is produced for sales, leasing and approval purposes, it does not, on these documents alone, hold any of the six authorities the site tracks; that is a statement about what these sources establish, not a judgement on the studios' technical capability, which neither document addresses.

The disclosure label

An image matching either studio's own description would carry a label reading, in substance: this is a marketing or approval visualisation produced by a communications or creative agency after the depicted design was set; it can support Class 3 Commercial decisions such as sales and leasing; it does not hold Dimensional, Photometric or Physical authority, since none is disclosed in the studio's own materials; dated 16 September 2026. The commissioning developer or its marketing team, the party each studio names as its client, would plausibly assert it.

  • Was this image commissioned to test a design decision, or to sell, lease or win approval for one already made?
  • Does the studio's own material state a camera, survey or lighting data source, or only a finished composition?
  • Is the image shown to a committee or regulator as evidence, when its authors describe it as a sales tool?

Neither DBOX nor Kilograph claims to offer verified representation; both describe themselves as agencies selling outcomes, a legitimate service on its own terms and a mismatch only when someone else asks that same image to carry planning or engineering weight it was never built to hold.
